INTERSERCO: Active to Seize Opportunities
With its internal strengths, experience gained in the past 30 years and acumen in business, International Investment Trade and Service Group (INTERSERCO) has gradually expanded both in width and depth. Standing on the top position amongst 12 customs clearance points in Hanoi and surrounding provinces in six straight years, it has confirmed the strengths and roles in multimodal transportation. INTERSERCO is also a leading manpower exporter in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.
Not only 30 years
A span of 30 years is a long way of pains and gains for INTERSERCO. In 30 years, it has sent over 46,000 workers to other nations. It did not take long to make INTERSERCO a leading manpower exporter in Hanoi in particular and Vietnam in general.
Notwithstanding numerous difficulties and challenges, INTERSERCO has achieved remarkable achievements in business and in social activities. In particular, in 2010, the company recorded a double rise in revenues over 2009; its import – export turnover rose 14 percent; tax payments climbed 59 percent; and the number of guest workers sent to work abroad increased 18 percent. It joined hands with the North Hanoi Customs Office to provide logistics and forwarding services at My Dinh ICD (inland clearance depot), fetching VND3,358 billion for the State Budget.
The rapid and sustainable growth and successful relations with Vietnamese and foreign-led large corporations like Samsung, Audi, Hapro and Big C proves the dynamism and ability to grasp business opportunities of INTERSERCO.
Difficulty means opportunity
To cope with market fluctuations and to minimise adverse impacts of world-wide inflation, the company timely adopted safe and sound decisions like expanding scopes of operations, coordinating with other business entities, reducing service costs, and improving professional capabilities of staff and employees to ensure sustainable development.
While world-leading corporations like Nike, Intel, Nokia and Samsung have been investing to build production facilities in Vietnam and logistics demand will grow up, the company has decided to invest and expand its ICD and warehousing systems. In five years from 2010 to 2015, the company will reallocate its My Dinh ICD to a new 20-ha facility in Duc Thuong commune, Hoai Duc district, Hanoi. It will also enter into a joint venture with VIDIFI to build a 30-ha ICD facility in northern Hung Yen province. It will also invest to build a 50-ha ICD and high-class urban complex in Dong Van Industrial Zone, northern Ha Nam province, a 30-ha Kim Thanh ICD and the commercial complex in Lao Cai City – the capital of northern Lao Cai province. In addition, to serve its operating strategies, apart from six foreign representative offices in Russia, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Japan, Taiwan, and Malaysia, INTERSERCO opened another one in Kunming, China in March 2010.
To expand its logistics networks, the company signed a cooperation agreement with Kunlun Group (Guangxi, China) – an influential and prestigious concern in China – ASEAN free trade area. Likewise, INTERSERCO always expands its networks, establish member companies, seeks for clients and partners, and enters into joint ventures with other companies to maximise internal strengths of stakeholders.
Mr Phung Tien Toan, President of INTERSERCO, said: “We always strive to look for new partners and business fields to sustain growth and popularise the INTERSERCO brand in both domestic and international markets.” Therefore, in the coming time, the company will expand multimodal logistics services, step into energy-saving lamp production, build three lightweight brick factories, construct border market systems in Hanoi to spur the economic development of the capital city.
In 2010, INTERSERCO was, for the second time, awarded Certificate of Merits from the Prime Minister and many noble praises from the Hanoi People’s Committee for outstanding achievements in business and social activities like Certificate of Merits for achievements in celebration of 1,000thfounding anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi; 1,000-year Thang Long Typical Enterprise Cup; Campaign Medal of the SMEs Association, etc. President Phung Tien Toan was also awarded the Third-grade Labour Order from the State President; the Certificate of Merits from the Mayor of Hanoi for achievements in service to the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long – Hanoi; the ‘Vietnamese Typical Entrepreneur’ title and others.
